An Image Turned into a Timeless Memory

0

So many times, an urn begins with an idea. Someone might think about a fond memory they had, or an aspect of their loved one that was particularly beautiful or easy to recall. That winning smile, or even a favorite tattoo, could be recreated on an urn and available for all eternity. We often hold onto an image of a loved one because we want to never forget those little things about them that could be so difficult to hang onto, decades after they leave us. Even in grief, we want to be reminded of these things. It hurts to think of a loved one who is gone, but it hurts more to feel their absence. Placing those images and mementos before our regular sight is one way to keep our memories alive, and our love green.

Memorializing a Cowboy or Cowgirl

0

The spirit of the cowboy has always been associated with a sense of freedom and dedication. Those who spent their years in the saddle have a common bond to nature that few others share. When you lose a cowboy that’s close to your heart, it seems fitting that his love for the lifestyle be honored. Cowboy urns, artistic statuette urns and other western-themed urns show the world a little a glimpse into the life that your cowboy once lived.

How Will Steve Jobs be Memorialized

October 5th, 2011 is a date that a lot of people, including the writer of this post, will remember for long after the day - we have lost a great source of inspiration, Steve Jobs. Although I wasn't completely shock, I did have trouble believing the news for about 10 seconds. His intelligence and business savvy mind set gave me confidence in technology and gave me something to strive toward in my own way. The question stands: Will he be cremated and what kind of urn would he want? There comes a time in every person’s life when they have to ask themselves, "How will I be memorialized?"  For William Randolph Hearst it’s a huge mausoleum in Colma, CA.

May 11, 2011 // Memorials, Memorials

Throughout written history, women have typically been left out of history texts and ancient scroll works. When discussed, they were noted for being quiet queens to noteworthy kings and emperors. When a man rose particularly high in society, his mother was often regarded well, what a wonderful man, he must have had a fabulous mother. So here we offer a list of famous women and their memorials, mostly unknown for their prowess as a mom, but for achievements all their own. Through a myriad of memorials the globe, we are reminded of their bravery, dedication, and strength. But it’s true that they were all devoted mothers, kissers of tears, singers of lullabies, and watchdogs of curfews.

Today we look back on the day we lost 2,819 people in New York City. Not only did we loss so many people, but we lost two iconic buildings that represented the strength of our great nation. A memorial will be created for the towers; this memorial was designed by Peter Walker and Michael Arad, who were selected from more than 5,000 design concepts. The memorial will be a large open space and plaza hosting almost 400 large trees that will surround a water area. I'm so pleased to hear that the memorial will not be another large building, but the opposite, an open space.

Headstone Decision Making

If your loved one chose a headstone before passing, consider yourself very lucky and loved. This is perhaps one of the most loving and caring things a family member can do before they pass; this way, it is not left up to remaining family members to choose a headstone during what is likely the saddest, most difficult time in their lives.
